Shimmering Shadows

May 4, 2010

Today was sunny. Too sunny. My eyes can’t take it, so I was squinting all the way down the pathway towards the dappled trees, as always, feeling foul.

Of course, if it’s too bright, the eyes seek out shade. A cold breeze was making the leaves rustle, not too strong to be chilly but not warm enough to be pleasant. I hear the  fabled sussurus. The cement is blinding, I look at the shade. Then I see the shadows of trees, moving. It’s tempting to stop. A few steps, the wind blows on and the dapples tremble on the ground. Slow down, slow down. I don’t. The shimmering shadows of the trees; they shake the soul, and no one cares.
