… is not dead.

December 4, 2012

And now, back to our regular light-hearted programming.

Not that our regular programming is light-hearted. Or regular.

I do actually have things to write about but it’s all a bit gloomy &/ incomplete &/ incomprehensible &/ conceptual &/ possibly bigoted, so forget it for now.

In other news, I have bought myself a copy of Windows 8. The desktop looks exactly the same so it’s hard to tell (Emanon + Rainmeter, print screen from a recent post; but with a translucent red taskbar). Because “pics or it didn’t happen”, here’s a more illustrative screenshot (in which I happen to plug WoT):

Actually I don’t think The-UI-Formerly-Known-As-Metro has any particular problems. Upgrading from Win7 to Win8 was shockingly painless. It took a bit of time (hint: you don’t actually need to boot into the CD) but I didn’t lose any data which is a big plus. Feels nice and zippy, and Everything Just Works. So far. Apart from the occasional where’s-the-bloody-settings-for-this issue.

I’ll let ya know if anything goes fantastically awry.
